COVID-19 Vaccine

Updated for Fall 2023

Temple University no longer requires COVID-19 vaccination for students, faculty or staff. We strongly recommend that all members of the Temple community stay up to date on their vaccinations, including booster recommendations.

Members of our community who work in healthcare settings are still required to receive the COVID-19 vaccination.

Fall 2023 COVID Boosters

COVID-19 Boosters have been updated for the Fall of 2023.  For more information on the new booster please go to https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2023/p0912-COVID-19-Vaccine.html.

The new booster is recommended for everyone over 6 months of age.  Vaccination remains the best protection against COVID-19-related hospitalization and death. Vaccination also reduces your chance of suffering the effects of Long COVID, which can develop during or following acute infection and last for an extended duration.  If you have not received a COVID-19 vaccine in the past 2 months, get an updated COVID-19 vaccine to protect yourself this fall and winter.

If you have recently tested positive for COVID -19 it is recommended to consider waiting three months to receive the booster to receive the maximum protection.

Where to receive a COVID-19 Booster

Because federal emergency declarations have ended, the cost of the COVID-19 Booster is no longer covered by the federal government.  Private health insurance, Medicare and Medicaid cover the COVID-19 Booster.

Anyone without health insurance can obtain a free COVID-19 Booster.  If you do not have health insurance more information on where to receive a free COVID-19 booster is available at:
